Tuesday Tune Up – The latest marketing developments 10th January 2012

Well Happy new year all! I can’t quite believe that it’s 2012 already, 2011 seemed to fly by in a puff of busy smoke! 2011 was a great year for Fusing Creativity, amongst the media doom and gloom of the recession I believe there are small businesses out there doing things right and getting somewhere with the right attitude. We hope that we’re one of them and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!

So anyway, welcome to the first Tuesday Tune up of 2012! From new Facebook updates (no surprise there!) to recent campaigns and a new look to Google on it’s way, it’s a bumper edition Tuesday Tune Up for the first one in January! Fusing Creativity Tuesday Tune upFacebook recommendations coming soon to mobile.

Facebook is testing a recommendation tab for some pages on its mobile touch site. As the company continues to build out its mobile pages with social recommendations and additional information, it could become an alternative to Yelp and other location-based search and review products.We’re not sure yet whether this will be available in the UK, but here’s hoping. McDonald’s targets coffee drinkers

McDonald’s is taking on coffee chains with a TV ad that focuses on the conversations people have while enjoying its hot beverages. It’s a clever way to lure the customers in from the likes of Starbucks and Costa Coffee, especially as many of the McDonalds restaurants have had the new facelift making them more ‘mature’. VisitBritain asks nation to ‘share your Great Britain’

VisitBritain, the tourism body, has  launched the latest phase of its ‘You’re Invited!’ marketing campaign, calling upon the British public to invite friends and relatives from around the world to visit the UK. The campaign allows you to use the ‘online toolkit’ to personalise your message and invite your global network to come and visit our neck of the woods. Read more here…

Now you can embed Tweets on your blog

Tweets have become one of the most important — and simplest — ways for people to share news, humor, inspiration, and knowledge online. And they are even richer when they include pictures, videos, locations, or links to other sites on the web. With the new version of Twitter, anyone can embed Tweets simply by copying and pasting one line of code into their website. Embedded Tweets automatically open to show images, conversations and videos. Read more here…

Google+ hits over 2.6 million visitors from the UK

Google+, the search giant’s latest attempt to succeed in the social space, received over 2.6 million unique visits in the UK in November last year, according to the first UK-specific traffic data from comScore. Traffic estimates from comScore show that UK visitors to Google+ rose almost threefold between September and November, to 2.6 million visitors, as the site moved out of its invitation-only stage. 2012 certainly is a big year for the making or breaking of Google+.  Autoglass casts Facebook competition winner in TV ad

Car windscreen repair specialist Autoglass has crowdsourced the star of its new TV ad from Facebook for the first time. 137 people applied on the companies Facebook page to become the face of Autoglass and the winner has now appeared in the ad. Google kicks off homepage revamp

Google is rolling out a major revamp of its search homepage, in a bid to simplify the page and improve user experience. This will be one of the biggest re-vamps to date of the search giant and is expected to be pretty mega! Read more here…

How Timeline Radically Changes Your Facebook Marketing Strategy

This is a cracking post giving some great information on how the new Facebook Timeline feature has changed how marketers should look at their social media strategy. They claim that the life of a status update is diminishing fast – so new strategies are needing to be implemented in order to reach more people at the right time – I highly recommend reading this, then coming to chat with us as this does mean a significantly more time-consuming social media approach, which we can of course, help with.  Tweetdeck now available in your browser

Tweetdeck is a very popular social media syndication programme, I know a lot of people choose to use it. It’s not my favourite, but a lot love it! Well, during December it was made available for use on the web, so now you don’t need to be tied to your personal laptop, computer or mobile device to login and carry on conversing… Find it here…

Timeline now available on mobile

Just in case you hadn’t noticed, as this was before Xmas but Facebook have now made the Timeline feature available on mobile. So you can now view your friends Timeline in all it’s glory from your mobile device. It looks pretty cool too… Read more here… (Are you moved over to the new timeline yet?)
